The Rainbow asymetric circular needle 2,5 mm is a special short asymmetrical circular knitting needle with a total length of 25 cm measured from tip to tip. The two needle tips deliberately have different lengths: the longer tip is approximately 7 cm and the shorter tip approximately 4.5 cm. This arrangement keeps the whole circular needle compact enough for small rounds while still giving your hand more space to hold and control one side. It is particularly useful for socks, small sleeves, cuffs, wrist warmers and other narrow projects that are knitted in the round.

Why use an asymmetrical circular needle?

On a conventional very short circular needle, two equally short tips can leave limited room for the fingers. The asymmetrical design uses the available length differently. For some knitters this feels more organised than working with four or five double-pointed needles. Practical tips for comfortable use

The asymmetrical shape may take a few rounds to get used to if you normally knit with straight needles, double-pointed needles or long circulars. Try holding the longer tip in the hand that does most of the guiding and let the short tip provide the compact circle. Move the stitches around the flexible section regularly so that unnecessary tension does not build directly behind the needle tips. For socks and fitted pieces, it is sensible to check your gauge, because a different hand position can sometimes alter personal tension slightly.

The 2,5 mm diameter must still match the yarn and pattern you are using. An asymmetrical circular needle changes the way a small round is handled; it does not change the gauge requirements of the pattern. After use, store the needle without forcing sharp bends into the short flexible section so that it remains easy to use.
